Latino Democratic Club Calls for Full Accountability After Fatal ICE Shooting in Minneapolis

The Latino Democratic Club is outraged by reports of a fatal shooting involving an ICE agent in South Minneapolis yesterday morning.

According to eyewitnesses, ICE agents approached a woman seated in her vehicle, alleging she was blocking a right-of-way. As agents opened the car door, the driver reportedly attempted to leave. An ICE agent then fired into the moving vehicle, striking the driver multiple times. The woman’s vehicle crashed into a parked car a short distance away. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital from gunshot wounds.

The Trump administration has characterized the shooting as “self-defense,” and the Department of Homeland Security has attempted to frame it as a response to “domestic terrorism.” The videos clearly contradict this false narrative. We reject the dangerous rhetoric that seeks to justify lethal force against community members exercising their rights - particularly in the context of this administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement and deportation efforts, which have already sown fear, instability, and state sanctioned violence across our communities.

This death - reported to involve a U.S. citizen and community activist - cannot be brushed aside or normalized. If lethal force is excused without real consequences, it sets a precedent where federal agents can act with impunity in our streets. That is unacceptable in a democracy and incompatible with the constitutional guarantees of free speech and peaceful protest.

The Latino Democratic Club calls for:

- A full, independent, and transparent investigation into the ICE agent’s actions, including immediate preservation and public release of all relevant evidence (body-worn camera footage, dashcam footage, dispatch logs, and witness statements), consistent with due process.
- Prosecution under the law for this murder - no special protections and no political interference.
- Federal and local oversight hearings into ICE operations and use-of-force policies, including deployment practices in jurisdictions that do not consent to being terrorized by federal agents.

We stand with the Minneapolis community and with all immigrant families living under fear and intimidation. We will not accept a future where protesting government actions can end in state sanctioned murder justified by the highest office in our Nation. Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of Renee Nicole Good - presente!
